Palm Sunday
10 April- Mathew 21:1-11
“Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” – Mathew 21:9
Today we remember the entrance of our Lord into Jerusalem and how he was received there. If we pay attention to the texts that describe his entrance, we learn that the large crowd gathered all over the place and claimed him to be the Lord; they blessed him and praised him. However, we now ask you Heavenly Father for forgiveness, for the times we vainly called you Lord, Hosanna, and vainly praised you as the Son of King David, being hypocrites with your love and everything you taught us. On this day we also acknowledge that it is not easy to remain coherent as Christians, but we beg the kindness of the Holy Spirit to guide us, keep our hearts open, and thus lead us to be witnesses of this active and prophetical love.
May we shout out “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”, confident that You Lord work in our lives and knows what is best for us. May these shouts be an affirmation of jubilation, not because of the ecstasy and the excitement of the moment, but because you transform our lives and we acknowledge him, who humbly came to the earth and humbly joined our lives. We ask you that we can also announce you, with humility and by being peacemakers.
