Holy Thursday
14 April – John 13.1-17. 31b-35
“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” John 13:14
With sensible hearts, we see today how the journey of our Lord Jesus Christ meets the cross. we see how he, in his perfect wisdom, knows what will be the consequences of his actions, and the pain that awaits him. Nevertheless, in his concern towards what is about to come, our Master and Lord, sets himself as an example, by giving us the New Commandment: love one another. Loving one another is not as easy as one wishes, because it is not about loving those who please us, but it is rather about loving everyone. That is the only way to become witnesses of Jesus and affirm the mercy of God.
We beg you today, Heavenly Father, that we may fulfill this commandment of love and service every day of our lives, following the example of your holy son. We acknowledge today, Holy Spirit, our flaws and ask you for a life based on love, so we can feel blessed for putting this commandment into practice.
