Revised Common Lectionary

The Season of Advent, the first cycle of the Liturgical Year, has come to its conclusion. Throughout the world, Christian communities observed this period with remarkable intensity, marking the beginning of a new cycle through activities and celebrations that strengthened the spirit of unity among Christian communities, regardless of denomination or geographical location.

This harmony and synchronicity in global celebrations are made possible by the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL). The RCL is a fundamental ecumenical tool that establishes a calendar of biblical readings (Old Testament, Psalms, Epistles, and Gospels) organized in a three-year cycle (Years A, B, and C), ensuring that Christian churches read the greater part of Sacred Scripture over the course of three years.

It has its roots in the Second Vatican Council and was developed in its revised form by various Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic tradition to promote unity in devotional practice. To use it, one simply follows the prescribed order of readings for each day; we are currently in Year A of the cycle.

So that your community may continue to follow the appointed biblical readings in 2026 (Year A), we are making available the complete Revised Common Lectionary in PDF format for download.
