Building Just Communities
With the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the Sustainability Institute Latin America and the Caribbean (InS) announces a new ongoing online training project aimed at leaders of Lutheran communion churches. “Building Just Communities” is a project that will combine webinars, collaborative reflection spaces, and practical resources, with the goal of finding common paths for transformation, reconciliation, restoration, and the building of just and restorative communities.
“We know that Latin America is one of the most unequal regions in the world. The countless forms of inequality (historically accompanied by various forms of injustice), in addition to affecting the daily lives of millions of people, also influence the life, service (diakonia), sustainability, and mission of the churches. Considering that the purpose of our baptismal vocation is to participate in the mission of God, and that God’s mission is to restore community and promote reconciliation in the world, the ‘Building Just Communities’ project proposes a shared reflection on contextual challenges, opportunities for change, and desired transformations, taking into account justice in its various forms, as well as God’s call to service and mission as central elements,” says Scheila Dillenburg, coordinator of InS.
Through this project, InS aims to inform, train, and strengthen the commitment to justice and peace, inspiring leaders to take an active role in their communities and promote reconciliation and the transformation of realities.
The next webinar will be held in May, and the date will be announced soon.
