The celebration of Reformation Day places us once again before the heart of the Gospel: salvation that is not earned, but received, solely by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. From the ruins of Jerusalem that God promises to restore (Isaiah 62) to the river of life that flows amidst chaos (Psalm 46), and the Beatitudes that describe those who have already been reached by grace (Matthew 5), the liturgy for Reformation Day invites us to a celebration free from the burden of merit and deeply anchored in God’s faithfulness.
To support faith communities on this journey, InS (Instituto Sustentabilidade) is making available the liturgical resource for the Reformation Service, part of the Celebrating in Community booklet. The material offers a complete liturgy proposal for worship, structured around the prophetic, psalmic, and Gospel readings that guide this occasion.
More than just a script, this publication seeks to strengthen congregational life by reaffirming the liberating truth that God does not accept us because we are good people, but because Christ is good and His righteousness has been given to us as a gift, a truth that transforms communities and hearts.
We invite congregations to use this resource to celebrate, with depth and meaning, the freedom that the Gospel of the Reformation grants us to this very day.
